Converse County Detention Center - Detention Deputy

​

The Converse County Detention Center in Douglas, Wyoming is actively seeking applicants to fill the position of Detention Deputy. Detention Deputies perform responsible protective service work ensuring the care and security of inmates at the Converse County Detention Center.

​

Our new Detention Center was officially opened and occupied on October 28th, 2018. The Detention Center is currently a 112-bed facility

with 5 holding cells. Our staff consists of 26 full-time employees which include the Captain, Sergeants, Corporals and our

Civil-Court Security-Transport Team.

​

The Converse County Detention Center is open 24/7, 365 days a year. Detention Deputies work 12-hour shifts with

3 and 4 days off a week! Detention Deputies are required to work day shifts and night shifts on a two-month rotation.

This goes for weekends and holidays as well.

​

Minimum Qualifications & Training:

​

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Possess a valid Wyoming Driver’s license

- Must be at least 21 years of age prior to appointment. (Exceptions may be granted by the Sheriff for anyone over the age of 18)

- Must successfully complete Detention Officer Basic training at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy within the first year of employment.

Salary

​

- $55,436.95 as probationary employee. $57,436.95 certification. Increased starting pay for pre-certified deputies up to $63,752.49!

​

Physical Demands

​

- Law Enforcement can be physically demanding and can be stagnant at times. Converse County sworn staff are expected to maintain a level of physical       fitness and be prepared to handle physical and emotional situations at any given time.

- Ability stand or sit for extended periods of time.

- Ability to lift heavy items in excess of fifty (50) pounds.

- Ability to defend one’s self and protect others by using control skills and law enforcement law enforcement equipment, such as a firearm, taser and OC       spray.

- Ability to walk and run variant distances.

Converse County Sheriff’s Office - Patrol Deputy

​

The Converse County Sheriff’s Office in Douglas, Wyoming is actively seeking applicants to fill the position of Patrol Deputy. The Converse County Sheriff’s Office patrol division is made up of (18) sworn deputies. Deputies patrol Converse County which encompasses 4,265 square miles using primarily pickups and SUVs.

​

Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

- Patrolling the county;

- Public relations events;

- Traffic stops;

- Livestock inspections;

- Responding to a wide variety of calls;

- Grant time (traffic/DUI enforcement, forest service patrol, etc.);

- Assisting multiple other agencies.

 

Due to the diversity in the county, patrol deputies find themselves working in subdivisions, mountains, grasslands, and in town. Many times, they will find themselves in several areas in one day! Our patrol division offers a great variety of work and scenery on a daily basis.

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Must be at least 21 years of age prior to appointment

- POST Peace Officer, Advanced Detention Officer Certified or Dual Certified.

- Non Peace Officer personnel must be able to successfully complete Patrol Officer Basic within one year of appointment.

Salary

​

- $57,911.34 as probationary employee. $59,911.34 after certification. Increased starting pay for pre-certified deputies up to $66,598.04!

​
