In Memoriam

K9 Deputy Trigger

End of Watch: December 1, 2021

In 2014, the Converse County Sheriff's Office approached the citizens of Converse County with a request to assist them fund a K-9. The community responded in resoundingly generous fashion and Corporal Mark Dexter was selected as the handler for the new K-9. Corporal Dexter went to California and was matched with a fun loving and loyal Belgian Malinois. The Converse County Sheriff's Office then reached out the children in the elementary schools within the county and they chose the name “Trigger” for this Malinois.

Trigger returned to his new home, Converse County, in April 2014 where he served his community, and other agencies within Wyoming, in numerous roles. Not only was he instrumental in removing illicit drugs and drug dealers off our streets, but he entertained and educated many citizens, mostly school children.

Though Trigger was a Converse County Sheriff's Office Deputy Sheriff he was also a member of the Dexter family and resided with them.

It is with heart felt sorrow, and deep regret the Converse County Sheriff's Office announces Trigger passed away on December 1, 2021, from natural causes. He will be sorely missed by the Converse County Sheriff's Office, the Dexter family and the citizens of Converse County.

"It is not just those with two legs who are born with a soul that has courage to wear the badge."
